This chart is useful on its own, but we typically want to dig deeper and see what caused inventory to increase or decrease over the month. The initial and final values sit directly on the horizontal axis and intermediate values are plotted as floating columns - positive values extend upward, and negative values extend downward. The column chart at the top of the dashboard compares the inventory levels for all the products. Waterfall charts are used to plot the cumulative result of values as a visual running total.
